Gaia Gaia is Leamington's first workers' co-operative. We currently have five members operating a community shop in the Old Town. We aim to promote ethical trading by running a profitable wholefood business on ethical principles, and by educating customers, our suppliers and ourselves about these concerns. We have an ethical policy which emphasises the principles of sustainability, social justice and non-violence.
The co-operative was formed in 1997, building upon the goodwill of our existing business. We now have a thriving wholefood business with the emphasis on organic, non- genetically modified and fair traded goods.
Through our community notice boards, Green Library and magazines we aim to give expression to a range of information and opinions concerning politics and culture which tend to be excluded from mainstream media. We also act as a contact point for LETS.
