Nutclough Housing Co-operative (previously known as Zion)
We moved into the Nutclough Tavern in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire in December 2002.
Current residents are nine humans, two cats and three budgies. We each have a small private space.
The majority of the old pub and gardens is communal and we encourage neighbours to enjoy the studio and gardens.
Many of our members are performers, artists and activists so the are often away from home at weekends and over the summer.
Our evening meals are vegan delights and we often have guests to eat and stay. We welcome visits from members of other co-ops and love to share our knowledge of the flora and fauna in the beautiful woods on our doorstep. Check out HX7 8HA.
We encourage perspective members to participate fully in the co-op. When a room becomes available all unhoused members are considered.
The next planed vacancy will be in July 2009 with options for trial residency prior to then.
Next summer (2009) we plan to construct low impact dwelling at the top of our garden. The plan is to work with home educated young people and that the dwelling can be used to experience and explore living within our needs.
We welcome contact from anyone wishing to know more.
